How to find eyeglasses that flatter your style and fit your facial shape!

Eyewear is a critical component to everybody’s style. It is a part of who you are and it helps define who you are to others. Making the right selection can be difficult but with our guidance you will undoubtedly make the right choice. Eyeglasses can be generally broken down into 3 main groups, i.e. full frame, semi-rimless frames, and rimless frames. What you choose depends on your style and what kind of look you are trying to achieve. Those looking to draw attention to their eyeglasses should choose the full frame and those looking for a more subtle look should choose a rimless frame. Once you have selected the type of frame, the next step is choosing the “style type” of your eyeglasses.. The 4 main categories of “style type” are: (a) trendy frames (e.g. Gwen Stefani) (b) classic frames (e.g. Grace Kelly) (c) retro/vintage frames (e.g. Buddy Holly) and (d) basic (e.g. your Grandpa). After you select the frame that you believe looks best on you remember to check our section below on facial shapes and nose types to help you confirm that your decision is the right one.

Facial Shapes

Square Face Shape:

Individuals with a face that is square shaped usually have very symmetrical features. Other features include a strong defined jaw line, wide cheekbones and a broad forehead. Those who have this facial type usually look best in a more oval or round shaped frame which flatter the distinctive features of a square shaped face.

Oblong Face Shape:

Those who have an oblong face shape, usually have long narrow facial features. Those who have this facial type usually look best in frames that either square or round. A square frame will help you widen your facial features whereas a round frame will flatter your face by softening it. Make sure not to get a frame that is wider then your face!

Round Face Shape:

If you have a round face shape your best bet is to choose a frame that is either rectangular or has nice straight lines. It is best to avoid round or oval shaped frames as they add fullness to your already round shaped face. Go for the Buddy Holly look it would look great on you!

Oval Face Shape:

Lucky you! If you have an oval face you are a perfect candidate for most frames. Why? Because an oval face has curves and straight lines that are flattered by all frame shapes. When selecting your frame make sure to pick something fun and exciting!

Nose Types

Small Nose Type:

For those who have a small nose make sure to choose a frame that has a smaller bridge size and has adjustable nose pads. Most of our frames that have nose pads are adjustable, which allow to move the nose pads closer together to ensure a comfortable fit.

Medium Nose Type:

Those who have a medium nose type usually fit into most frames without much adjustment. You have the ideal nose size that are flattered by most frames.

Large Nose Type:

Those with a larger or wider nose need to be careful when they select their frames. If the bridge size is too small the frames will be uncomfortable. Look for a frame with a larger bridge size that has adjustable nose pads. Generally, metal frames are the best frame to choose.
